Heat Pump
Hi,
First check and see if the Secondary/Emergency/Back-up Heat (Electric coils/strips,Gas Burners,etc...) is on with A/C.
If not, then check and see if compressor (Outside unit-Turn off power, remove panel, wait ten minutes, restore power) is running (Look and Listen for it to start) and if it is, see if air blowing out of/off Condensing Unit (Outside Unit) is warm/hot or cool/cold.When doing this, anytime you turn off unit, wait 10 minutes before turning back on.
Also make sure Outside/Inside Coils and the Filter is clean.
If Sec. Heat/Back-up Heat is OFF,Compressor is running,coils/filter clean and air coming from vents inside is warm/hot and air from outside Condensing Unit is cool/cold,Reversing Valve probably stuck in Heat Mode.Turn off unit, wait 30 minutes and turn back on.If it is the same and t-stat is set to cool/auto (Could be faulty t-stat also not switching to cool), I would call a Qualified/reputable Heat Pump Contractor to inspect it. Would not advise tampering with Reversing Valve.Hope this helps, please keep us posted/updated.Take Care and Best Wishes.
