Oil Pump Pressure Setting Question

On a Lennox OHP31C-7 oil burner, I replaced the Sundstrand J2BCF 412 (died) with a Webster 1R111C-4C3. Because of the different physical configuration of the Webster, it is rotated 90 deg CW so it will fit, and the Inlet and Nozzle openings are accessible for the fittings that go in them. The pressure adjustment is not accessible in this position. The pressure measured at the nozzle line that goes into the gun is 90 lbs and should be 100. I'm no expert by any means but I think the startups are little rough and dirty, and I don't think the fire is as big as it should be.

Any suggestions on getting the pressure up to 100psi? Besides taking it off the burner, cranking the regulator in a little and measuring again? Rinse and repeat until satisfied?

Hopefully there will be a better way!

Thanks, Tom

F,
The real bad news is there is NO WAY to adjust the pressure except with the area they provide.

Hope this helps a little.

I think I will try removing it from the furnace, turning the adjustment fitting, and putting it back in the furnace testing the pressure before hooking up the nozzle gun to the output -- use the pressure gauge instead. If I keep track of where it has been it should be able to be put back where it started if things go south. I think I'll try contacting Webster for their take also.

Type in your Webster pump number into google and it will bring up Webster as a sight and you can see what's there if that will help.

I tried to copy but it would take.

Odd with the links -- they showed up in the email notification to me that your message had been posted, Thanks for those. I will check them out. Meantime I called Webster and got a call back from Curt. He agreed that it would be a fair amount of fiddling but that a change to the pressure valve can be made without the unit running. This afternoon I got far enough to run a test (pressure gauge only) of the first attempt at a change and found that the pressure is now set for 110psi. That was with a half turn in (CW) on the socket screw. I'll give that a test start up tomorrow and if that works I'll back off from the setting 1/6th of a turn and call it good. Give it one last bleed session and button it up.

Thanks for your help!
Tom

Sometimes the email notification is slow.

I had come across some info previously. I thought I had posted it but apparently not.
