New furnace install , attaching plenum

I have this new furnace and all the measure are between the old furnace and new one is good except for the height of the new furnace..it is 3 3/4 inches shorter... So it looks like I will need a small piece made ...in order to connect the plenum.

Should I have the new piece made so when it joines to the old plenum , it fits on the outside or the inside ..Is there such of a joint where the old would fit into a flange ...on the new one ...if that’s the case, the piece would have to be an exact measure..

if if I just fit the new piece up inside the old plenum ! How much of an overlap should I do..maybe a couple inches....thanks for info.

You could have a sheet metal shop make you a canvass connector to take up the space needed.

The canvass connector would be right on the top of the furnace is that not to close to the heat exchanger...

Other thing to consider is to cut some metal off the bottom of the old plenum. Then you have more room to make a transition piece. And could fit canvas isolator.

That’s a great idea to cut off more so the transition piece is bigger ...thanks
