Howdy all and please bear with me: I recently returned home to find my AC unit misbehaving. The compressor was working just fine but the blower/fan was doing nothing. The thermostat outdoor pickup was not functioning and the digital thermostat was acting weird. I suspected a lightning strike or power surge. This is a GOODMAN system using a GGMV951155DXBC LP furnace coupled with a 5 ton heat pump (TXV410). So, after some unsatisfactory probing with the multimeter I did these things: First I replaced the thermostat (BIG BLUE UNIVERSAL 3/2) with a brand new unit. This did not make the fan run. Next, I replaced the control board with the recommended upgrade unit: PCBBF107S. I get the slow green light but the motor still did nothing when either using the thermostat or jumpering red/green (I can hear the relays click, but the motor does nothing). Then, I replaced the motor with a brand-new model specific unit. Still green-lit, relays still clicking, no blower. The last old component was the 24V transformer so I replaced that, as well. (At the terminal block I'm getting 27V plus/minus green to common with green/red jumpered- but only 19V coming off the board at the 16 pin connector or at the motor end of the 16 pin harness). Still green-lit, relays still clicking but the blower motor is still doing nothing. I've got 120V at the motor, no problem. The compressor is firing right up when I kick on the cooling with the thermostat. The fan simply will not trigger. Clearly I am a "component replacer" not an HVAC pro (or even amateur) but I am totally at a loss. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. J.

The metal chimney on the roof is rusting, about 40 years old. It has not rusted through yet. Can I paint it with black BBQ (high temp ) paint or would regular paint be OK. Not sure how hot it can get when in use a lot.
