What happens when it doesn’t work:[/color] [color=#000000]- the thermostat places the order[/color] [color=#000000]- the fan starts[/color] [color=#000000]- the surface ignitor begins to glow, then goes dark[/color] [color=#000000]- the fan continues[/color] [color=#000000]The remedy that works 100% of the time:[/color] [color=#000000]- turn off the switch on the outside of the furnace[/color] [color=#000000]- wait 30-60 seconds[/color] [color=#000000]- turn on switch[/color] [color=#000000]- furnace works fine until the next long idle period[/color] [color=#000000]Any ideas what the problem(s) might be?[/color]

Hello, This isn't exactly a DIY question, but I can't think of any other community with this expertise. I am replacing my old furnace from the 80s through a contractor. I intend to get AC installed in the future so should I have the evaporator coil installed as well? Would it be easy to install one after the furnace has been installed? I live in California, and I'm being quoted an extra chunk for the evaporator coil install. Thanks!
