Flame sensor issue

I had an error on my furnace and read into it and sounded as if the flame sensor needed to be cleaned. So I did that with no issues and when I was reinstalling the flame sensor, the head of the screw sheared off...and I can’t get out. It of course sheared off right near the sheet meta and I can’t get a grib on it with needle nosed pliers to unscrew it. My work around was to use foil tape to secure the flame sensor in place. Seems to be working now but curious if this is a safe solution or not. Any other suggestions?

Welcome to the forums.

That would be a temporary repair. The tape will dry out and fall off.
Can you get a grip on the screw on the other side ?
Vise Grips or a pair of cutters are the best thing to use. If the Vise Grips can't grip it..... hold the cutters like you are trying to cut the screw in half longways. I've used that method for years.

All else fails you'll need to drill a new hole and then adjust the bracket.

Thanks!
i tried getting at it from the other side but there’s a lot of stuff up there that I didn’t want to start playing with. Maybe a new hole is the best solution.
