Question Filter direction

Hi folks,

Super silly question here, but I'm replacing the filter in my furnace. I have forced hot air heated with natural gas. The last time I replaced it, I just copied the same way the previous owner had it installed. Now that I'm going to replace it again, I think she may have had it installed incorrectly. I think the air flow goes from the left to the right (see picture). She had it installed the other way. Doesn't the air flow go TOWARDS the furnace on the right?

I can take other pictures if needed too!

Thanks,
JP

You are correct, the return air is coming from the duct on the left!.

Awesome thanks. Yikes, I’ve had the filter installed backwards for over a year 🤦🏼*♂️

I doubt it makes a huge difference that it was installed backwards!
