Carrier 58ZAV code 31 - Solved
Just wanted to say thanks to this forum, and a Youtube video. I fixed my furnace. Got home from work Monday, cold in the house. Started reading the furnace manual, old unit, never had an issue. Survived the night with a couple of electric radiator oil heaters. Has been snowing here in Boise the last couple weeks.
Next day after work, I ran the furnace thru diagnostic mode, motors working, all seems ok. Went out to start taking things apart, and it was the first thing I checked. This unit has the pressure switch connect via rubber hose to the metal housing that the inducer motor mounts to. Stuck a drill bit in the nipple, and it wouldn't go in. Pushed hard, and the debris plug let go. Turned it all back on, and it fired up hot!
Funny how such a simple, minor thing can disable the unit. I've never worked on a furnace, glad this was so easy. The manual and this forum got it fixed. I was well prepared to call a repairman if my simple attempts failed. I appreciate the expertise of a professional, but in this case wasn't needed.
