Insulating Between Gas Heat/AC Unit And Concrete Wall

Although my task is insulating a concrete wall, it is specifically related to insulating between a gas heat/air unit and the concrete wall, which is why I'm posting in this section.
I have a small basement that I'm insulating with 2" extruded polystyrene insulation. There is a smaller 1" gap behind the heat/air unit which I'm putting 1" insulation in. I'm wondering if this will pose any problems when the heater (gas) is running. I don't want the insulation to heat up, melt, burn, etc.Pictures of what I'm doing are attached.

Anyone know of any issues with what I'm attempting? If so, how can I insulate this space safely?
