Popping sound
We have a Lennox furnace that has recently started to make a loud "Whoop" sound when it starts and then it will have a continuously bpbpbpb sound. A furnace technician could not figure it out. Any thoughts?

Welcome to the forums.
When does the noise start....... as soon as the burner lights ?
If yes..... the starting whomp is the burner not lighting fast enough. That's usually caused by rust in the burners and typically the carryover ports where the gas is passed from burner to burner for lighting. In order to have a smooth ignition.... the gas needs to get to the igniter as soon as the gas valve opens.
I'm a little surprised your tech doesn't know this as it's fairly common.
Tell him to take the burners out and clean them thoroughly.
In the event he has already removed and cleaned the burners.... the next step would be to check the gas manifold pressure.
