1950's Coleman Floor/wall Heater, Pilot on, but won't light burner for wall thermostat, removed thermostat and connected wires, no burner, can turn heater another way with the control at the heater?

Is this a 24volt unit, a powerpile unit or whatever? If it is a self contained unit with the pilot powering the gas valve (powerpile) or is is connected to a power source? Need more information and pictures if you can. I can guess what you have but having more information would be great
