Valor Portrait 530icn flame height issue

My Valor Portrait fireplace has had an issue for the last few months with flame height. The first few years I had it you could use the remote to turn it on, the pilot would light, then the valve would slowly open automatically for about6-7 seconds. The flame would ignite in the beginning and slowly get taller until it was about 4-5" tall.

Not the pilot lights, the valve opens, but nothing happens for 3-4 seconds. Then flame pops on, about 2" tall, then the valve finishes opening and the flame goes up, maybe another 1". Of course this cuts back the heat the unit puts out.

I was wondering if it was a valve problem, or if it could be something with the burner. Thanks!

That problem is usually a gas valve issue. A problem with the variable gas flow section. On your unit that variable gas is controlled by a motor attached to the valve. That motor is available as a repair for the valve. You would need to confirm that the motor is actually not working or is not turning far enough.

I can't offer much troubleshooting help over that as I'd have to see the valve personally to troubleshoot it.
