Exclamation Heil Furnace Ignition Issues (S8600M)

Currently been dealing with an issue that I can't seem to make any headway on. I have a Heil nugk125dk09 (Honeywell S8600M Module) that is having problems with pilot staying lit. The pilot does light but it shuts off immediately upon lighting.

Here is the flow for whats happening,
thermostat calls for heat,
furnace starts up (Inducer motor starts),
Pilot Sparks and lights but then immediately shuts off (MV does not open),
and the furnace will continue to do that until power is cut.

the amount of time the pilot is lit is approx 1/2 - 1 sec

The S8600M does not have a flame sensor, it uses burner ground to the module to detect pilot.

Any ideas what could be going on here?

Welcome to the forums.

Yes.... it actually does have a flame sensor. It's the same rod that is used for spark.
The spark rod needs to be fully engulfed in the pilot flame.

Download the following PDF file from me. It's got a lot of good servicing info on that system.
Let me know when you've gotten it as I don't leave pdf files posted.

looks like the flame is causing whatever is happening to happen. When I start the furnace with the Valve off the system runs and trys to ignite, but the second the gas valve is turned on and the pilot lights, the system closes PV and starts over.

Also FYI, Lots of relay noises coming from module when PV closes and resets.

There really is no way of troubleshooting the spark ignition system. Normally you'd monitor the flame sense wire for current flow during flame detection. That's almost impossible on a system where the spark and sense are on the same line.

One thing I would try is to clean the pilot flame orifice. If the pilot flame is not large enough.... it won't switch over to MV properly. The pilot flame needs to be fairly robust.
