2 Carrier Furnaces same error code

We had a early snow here and the wife went to turn on the heat but neither furnace worked. Both furnaces are identical: Carrier 59SC2B Natural Gas. And when I checked both they had the same 31 error, that the pressure switch did not close or re-open. I checked the connections and tubes to and from the pressure switch. I also checked the vents. I also checked the tubing connected to the inductor for water as recommended on a previous post here, but couldn't find any problems. We've only been in this house 1 year and the furnaces are only 5 years old. It's odd that they both have the same error.

We did recently have a plumber out to quote us on running a natural gas pipeline outside for a fireplace - he checked both furnaces, but as far as I could tell just checked the specs for BTU info to gauge our capacity. Is there something he could have accidentally done on both? The gas valves are on, the gas fireplace works, and the power is on (I can turn the fans in the furnaces on). Hard to think it would be a coincidence.

Welcome to the forums.

Not good having the same problem on both furnaces.
You might want to call and have your gas provider send a tech to check them out.

I'm guessing the draft inducer blowers are running ?
We use a manometer to check the vacuum on the switches. Saves a lot of guesswork.

The manual below describes the process to go thru for the drains and has diagnostics towards the end....... Downloadable Carrier manual

Thanks for the guide. I'll have to go check for sure but believe they were. I'll take a look at the manual and if nothing helps go ahead and call someone to come out.

Just turned the fan on (from auto), and the inducer blowers do run. I've tried the other steps that I can with the equipment I have and nothing, looks like I'll have to call someone.

The draft inducer is not the same as the main blower.
The draft inducer starts with a call for heat..... well before the main blower comes on.

Ok. So to test that I should turn on the heat and see what happens?

Yes..... the draft inducer is directly in front of the burner area. It should start immediately after a call for heat. As the vacuum develops the pressure switch closes and the igniter will start to heat up.
