Thermostat

I have a thermostat question. My furnace will kick on and run even though the thermostat is at temperature. So I have it set at 67 degrees and it shows the room being 67 degrees but the furnace still went on. Why would this be? I changed the batteries in it about 2 weeks ago.

Figured it out.
I contacted Honeywell about the Thermostat and apparently it detects temperature fluctuations of a fraction of a degree. Therefore, the thermostat signals the furnace to go on after the temp decreases by 1/2 of a degree.
The crazy thing is, the rep told me on Live Chat that the thermostat is a "simple switch! It just turns the furnace on and off." Which is funny because my furnace is a dual stage burner and variable speed blower motor! And I've seen some thermostats do some crazy things to a heating system!

Most thermostats process temperature in tenths of a degree.
66.5 - 66.6 - 66.7 - 66.8 - 66.9 - 67.0 - 67.1 - 67.2 - 67.3 - 67.4 - 67.5
This band of temps is all shown as 67°.
