Installing 30,000 btu natural gas wall mount heater in garage
Hi everyone! I am thinking of installing the heater mentioned in the title of my post. I live in a condo. How would I find some information on how to get a gas line ran to the heater or how to find an existing gas line that I might be able to use? Should I go with a propane if getting a gas line will be too difficult? The main reason I want to have a little heat is for my dog. I just want to be able to heat up the garage for a few hours if we need to leave the dog at home.

Gas line usually requires permitting to run, test and put into service.
As this is a utility that you get charged for, you need to contact your condo management association to determine where your gas meter is.
Does your condo complex use gas? Lots of complexes don’t have gas on the premises.

In most cases, if you don't have natural gas available to your building or, at least to the street in front of your building, you are out of luck. If none of your neighbors have gas, then that is probably your answer. If this is all for very small heating requirement (30,000 Btu/hr) for a dog in the garage, find a simpler solution. How is your condo now being heated? How about an insulated doghouse?

Take a look at heated beds. Some can be set to different temperatures and they draw very little power so you can leave it on all winter. And the dog can have a nice warm bed even when you are home.

Thanks for all the responses so far! My condo has a gas log fireplace in the living room that is natural gas so I do have that. All of my appliances are electric as well as my heat. I have several electrial outlets in the garage, so maybe the heated bed is a good idea.

Are you charged for the gas your fireplace uses? Is it natural or LP gas?
