Condensate line and odor
Had Trane high efficiency heating and air installed in attic 8 yrs ago. They installed 1/2” clear plastic tubing condensate drain into washing machine drain. Gas odor comes out when washer spins out. So much so that I have to increase ventilation in house. This doesn’t happen when heat and air are off. How should this be repaired? I have had several plumbers, HVAC service look at this over the yrs.

A/C condensate lines rarely have any smell. You could have mold buildup inside the coil area. Is this a gas furnace ? The condensate should be discharged either outside or into a properly trapped drain line. Since you are smelling the washer when it runs.... there may not be a trap at that location.

Ok..... so then a logical answer would be to move the condensate line to a different location.

Ok, wanted another opinion. My new service man told me they would put pvc line to slop sink for $375. Also I’m reading line should be 3/4”, mine is 1/2”. Thank you for your help.

Yes.... typically the drain line is 3/4".
