Removed oil fired water heater. Converted to electric. Oil heat won’t start
Greetings and Salutations,
New here, hoping for some help 🙏🏻
Today I had my home converted from an oil hot water heater to an electric one. The only hiccup has been that my oil heat burner now will not start. Blower fan will run but the burner will not start. I noticed it happened after disconnecting the power line that runs into the old oil hot water burner.
After removal I am left with two lines, the power that came into the old burner and a line that went out from the burner controls into “Field Controls” units. Both the remaining lines are black and white AC.
AC power line that was connected to the thermostat on the old oil hot water heater. Line that came out of the old hot water heater control board/ignitor. Line from the old oil burner control board comes in on the bottom right of the bottom uncovered “Field Controller”.
Looking for any insight. My first inclination is to tie the lines together, thankfully my higher brain is telling my monkey brain to gather more info before proceeding. Lol.
Any and all help is appreciated. Thanks for your time.
You had this work done ?
What about the tech that did the work ?
The oil water heater and the oil furnace should not have shared any wiring other than power.
What blower fan is running ?
Does the burner start but not light ?
Is the Fields unit CK damper set up to supply power to both units ?
I have a goodman furnace GMS80805CN serial # 1209553880. The gas was not being turned on after the ignitor would glow so I checked the voltagae at the two wire going to the gas valve & there is no voltage. So I thought the control board was bad but today I got a replacement board and it does the same thing. It must be something else. Any help would be appreciated.
Hi,
I have an old Heil 5000 fan assisted furnace, it does not have a control board. It is about 20 years old, but it is in a vacation house so we do not use it alot. Unfortunately, it was installed in a closet in a bathroom so it has corrosion issues. Once we discovered this, we keep the door to the furnace open and and close when taking a shower. Again, the bathroom doesn't get use alot.
1. the fan goes on, but the blower did not.
2. The igniter does go on with a flame, so there is gas input
3. The blower did not go on so the gas did not.
3. I checked the signal the pressure switch and it is 22volts both in and out.
I am sorry, but I can't seem to add attachment, the upload button is greyed out.
