Two pipe gas furnaces

"High-efficiency furnaces come with two pipes; one pipe brings combustion air directly into the furnace and mixes it with fuel. The other pipe exhausts the combustion gases directly to the outdoors."

well our 20yr old furnace has those and the house has vents in the rooms that send air to the furnace.
no not the heating ducts!

will the new furnaces still use these in house air intakes?
thanks all.

Not sure what you are describing. Can you post a picture or two for me.
How to insert pictures.

I think you are talking about cold air return vents.

So you have vent/ducting that goes to a replaceable filter on the side of the furnace, then to the blower motor and then to the hot air ducts/vents.
This is the air circulation path for the house.

The two pipes you refer to are for the combustion chamber and are separate from the air circulation.

You said ... not the heating ducts.

Do you understand that there are SUPPLY and RETURN ducts to the furnace ?
They are both considered heating ducts. One supplies heated air to the room and the other brings neutral air back to the furnace. There are usually only a few return ducts.... not one in every room.

Yes.... your furnace now and any new furnace will require the use of those same exact ducts .

I'm still not clear what you are asking.

Sounds like you already have a high efficiency furnace.

The newer furnaces may be a little more efficient.
