I was hoping someone could help me identify a replacement for my Oil Furnace vent cap. As you can see in the pictures, the cap is badly deteriorated. The vent pipe ID is 6" and the OD is 9". For the life of me, I can't seem to locate a replacement. Any assistant would be greatly appreciated.
At the very least you'd want galvanized steel. Stainless steel would be more costly but last longer.
Not sure if that's double wall pipe. That will enter into the equation. They're widely available.
Need your help! Lennox package unit - gas, 6 years old, outside. Last winter was tripping off, reset the breaker, work for a couple hours then would trip off. Spring hit and planned to tackle in the Fall of 2022 . Fall 2022, replaced the sensors thinking it was bad sensors. Still had trip problem but got this horrible smell (mechanical/metalic) when it did work, comes through ALL registers. Only smells with Heat, no smell with A/C. Had 3 different HVAC companies come couldn't figure it out, internet said heat exchanger hole can give off odor and last HVAC company finally found a hole in the heat exchanger. Had the blower replaced first, wasn't that - still had the smell, finally got the new heat exchanger today from Lennox (took 5 months and was hopeful but STILL have the smell. HVAC said give it a few days as it could be just new heat exchanger smell but its the exact same smell. So frustrating. Replaced blower and heat exchanger - whats left to replace in that unit other than the coils which arent used in heating process? Any ideas. Going to have my ducts cleaned to see if it could be something in there. Thanks for taking the time to read and for any ideas!
Dear forum,
My heating system (Carrier Performance 96 58UVB) stopped working over the past few days. From the error code, it indicated that the flame rollout switch was tripped. I could reset the switch and get it back on, but only after 15-20 min, it trips again.
The box housing the igniter and the flame is hot to the touch after running for a 5-8 min. In comparison, another identical unit (58UVB) that heads up my basement was not as hot.
Comparing the two units, a notable difference is that the working heater (to heat my basement) turns on the blower shortly after the flame is on, but the one failed (to heat up my first floor) only has the blower on intermittently or never turn on.
I suspect that if the blower is not on, then the heat will build up in the igniter box, and trip the rollout switch.
I saw some videos talking about replacing the blower capacitor, is this what you would recommend or there might be other sensors that are not working?
thanks
