Cool York Affinity 9 - Model PT9B12N

I'm having intermittent furnace ignition/lockouts and I'm checking to see if anyone has any ideas. I have replaced both the ignitor AND flame sensor.

I have heard that if the condensation drain tubes (this is a HE unit) get clogged up and don't drain, this could cause this to happen.

Hope to hear soon....getting chilly in NJ :-)

Most HE furnaces will show an error LED which helps diagnose the problem. Usually, it flashes a certain number of times. There should be a label inside the blower compartment cover which lists what the error codes mean. It would help to know what the error code indicates.

You need to catch it when it happens and use a meter and your eyes/ears to troubleshoot.

It blinks 7 times. Code is lgnition ockout due to retries. It fired off successfully this morning 2 or 3 times but will not ignite now.

Does the igniter glow?

If yes, you need to use a meter to see if it is applying power to the gas valve after the igniter warmup period.

Yes the ignitor glows. I do hear the gas valve opening . Unfortunately i don't have any meter and wouldn't know how to check 😕 If it isn't opening why did it ignite successfully earlier and not now? just asking.

You could have an intermittent problem.

You need to call a tech to check with a manometer and meter.
If the valve is getting power, opening and passing gas through (pressure measured with manometer), it could be dirty burners or the igniter not positioned properly and not reliably lighting the gas.

You've reached the limits of you can do.

How do you know you are hearing the gas valve open ?
The control module makes a relay click to send power to the gas valve.

I hear the click and hear the hissing of gas being delivered to the combustion chamber. I also have been outside the house when it has tried to ignite and I hear the gas meter/line delivering the gas.

How easy is it to clean the burners? I think that this may be the problem as they haven't been serviced in quite a long time. Seems to ignite fine after 8 or 9 lockout resets.
