Can boiler supply enough hot water?
#1
A thrifty general contractor has suggested the Utica oil boiler (101,700 BTU) used for the hot water heat in the house can also supply the general use hot water if I take a failing 27 gal. Hotstow storage tank out of the system. (The Hotstow tank is designed as an electric water heater, but I believe it is only used for storage.) House usually has just one occupant, two on weekends. Can the boiler do it all by itself?

domestic water off boiler
With that many people using the home, the boiler should have no problem supplying your hot water needs. You usually run into problems when you have alot of people and the demand for water is high. Winter only compounds this problem.
