Reviews on Central AC

Bought an older home and am investigating installation of central air. Will be having contractors come out to quote (already had first one out this week) but would like to do investigation on quality of the units they are quoting me.

Any ideas of website that has ratings, etc?

Most of the major manufacturers have web sites. You can compare their operational specs. As per repairs, system longevity,etc...I do not believe there is a site, mostly pesonal opinion. Best bet is to check on the contractors you are getting bids from.

Gas and Oil Home Heating Furnaces
No heat from hot water baseboard

I have a three zone gas fired hot water baseboard heat system. Two of the zones work great and one will not. It has a new expansion tank on it and runs at about 18lbs pressure at 180 degrees. The two zones that are working are on the main and upstairs floors, the one not working is in the lowest level of the house. I have bleeders on each return line just before the control valve. Water will flow thru the zone when I shut off the control valve and use the city pressure for bleeding but not while heating the house. Any help would be great. Thanks Dave :confused:

How to Install Filter

Hi, I am new here, so please be gentle:) I am also new to home repair, so I know this seems like a stupid question. Currently, I have black dust piling up around and near my heating vents. I am trying to figure out how I go about checking and changing my filter. I just moved in, so I have yet to check it. My heating also is fluctuating from warm to cool. I assume it's the filter, but dont know how I go about changing it. Do I shut off my heat? I have a gas furnace. Please, any advice would be appreciated..... Thank-you
