gas furnace help

I have a free standing natual gas furnace, with no heat ducks, that is vented. Pilot light went out, it was relight, and 10 min later went out again. Tried to relight, the pilot will light but has very small flame and after about a minute when I try to let go of the pilot button, the pilot light goes out again. Please help

sounds as if the pilot orifice is clogged, restricting the pilot flame, thereby not heating the thermocouple properly. remove this assembly and clean the pilot gas orifice with a pin or needle. do not enlarge the hole

A'm shopping for new furnace and a/c for my home. Dealers say the variable speed furnace are the way to go. The selling point about these furnaces are the motors. American Standard calls there motor a Integrally Controlled Motor (ICM), York's is called a EMC motor. I'd like to ask how these motor differ from other motors and how they add to the efficiency of the furnaces.Read More

I am buying a house which (for whatever reason) does not have air conditioning. Could someone give me a "ballpark figure?" The house is a single story approx. 2460 square feet.
