Problem with new digital thermostat

Hey everyone. Hows it goin?

I have a question for some experts on this topic. I bought a SimpleComfort 3800 digital thermostat last week and put it on my lennox system. It has the HP25 system for the outside unit. The air handler is a regular 4 ton lennox unit.

This digital thermostat seems to be about 5-10 degrees off at any given time. It can be on 78, but actually cool the house to about 70-73 degrees, or lower. The thermostat is sealed up behind it with slilcone so no heat can get near it, and it's about 3 feet away from the air return duct.

I cant seem to get this thing right.....any suggestions?

It's a 2 stage heat/cool 24v compatable, etc...i've got it hooked up right im pretty sure....

Well in addition to this........I got home today and discovered that my heat heatpump and heat coiles have been running all day long....and it was to the nice comftrable tempature of 120 degrees in my house. Needless to say I am quite upset...The a/c was set to be on at 78 and heat on at was far from both temps. If digital thermostats are this much junk i'll go back to the ol' mercury!
