I hate to say this, but putting a used compressor in a airconditioner is not a good idea, it is not even the wisest thing to replace a compressor period.
First off, a used compressor will most likely be fairly warn out. So, that used compressor may only last a couple of years, or 5 years if you get lucky. I don't see a point in paying for installation and the compressor when it may not last very long.
Secondly, the compressor in an air conditioner must be perfectly matched to work properly. Improper matching could result in compressor burn out, lack of cooling or very high energy consumption. If you even can find a place to buy a used compressor from, it is very likely that they won't have a good selection, so you may not find the right one.
Last but not least, a used compressor is likely to draw a lot of power. As a compressor gets warn out, it draws more and more amps. A compressor that is 11 years old can already be fairly close to the max rated amps.
I think that you might as well try to get a used unit that is less than 8 years old if you can instead. (I doubt you can get used a/c's or compressors anyway)At least, the a/c will be a perfect match with the compressor.
