Angry 3 amp fuse keeps blowing

A 3 amp fuse keeps blowing when I turn on the air conditioner. It works fine when I heat the house. The fuse is located right below a circuit board viewable when you open the lower panel on an Amana unit model guca070ax30. Serial number 0011214882.

you have

a short in the low voltage line, probably going outside, check this wire all the way to where it connects to the outdoor unit itself. if you do not find one (bare wires touching, etc., disconnect one of the wires, if fuse does not blow, probably contactor. does the fan run in the on position? if so, rule out bad fan relay, which is also a possibility. my money is on the wire

Thumbs up

I traced my wire out to the outside unit and found that a chipmonk had entered into a small section of the unit covered by a panel. The chipmonk had chewed off the insulation of the wires. There was enough wire to splice back together. Now the air conditioner works great. Thanks!
