Unhappy A/C not cooling???

HELP!!! The fans inside and out are working as far as I can tell. The line that runs from the outside unit to the inside unit freezes up when we run the air. I don't know when it was last cleaned and/or serviced. I don't know how to get into the unit to check the coil. We are melting. Please help. If you can refer me to someone in the area that does side jobs or is fairly inexpensive I would greatly appreciate it. FUNDS are very very low!

Thank you in advance for any help or advice.

Have you been changing your filter regularly? If so, your acoil might be ok. If not, it`s probably dirty or you are low on freon. If there is no door or access to your acoil, hire someone to do it because it is easy to damage the coil or refrigerant lines. Good luck on finding someone to do it cheaply this time of year.

I just bought the property. We got a get deal on the place, but it was AS IS. I don't know if the filter was changed regularly or not. We did fing the coil and cleaned it but it is still not cooling below 80, in the evening. It didn't freeze this time. But again, it was in the evening and we turned it off when it didn't cool below 80. After being on for a couple of hours the larger pipe coming from the back of the unit was barely cool and the small one was warm, not hot. Does this mean that I am low on freon. The air in the open area above the blower is cooler that the air coming from the vents. Not alot of air coming from the vents. What could cause this problem?
