That shows all new posts.

Hi Brandon,

That be the one, but earlier (3 or 4 hrs ago) it wasn't shown like that.

New Posts was under the Links, and it wasn't working for ME.

Mr Admin got it working, and now he has given it it's own spot!

thx,
fred

Talking "My Two Cents."

The option to find new posts, is now listed under the heading of "Thread Tools," as moderator SafeWatch accurately noted.

>>>That option was originally missing prior.<<<

Several familar, unique, specialized, customized features, operations & functions, we all are use to having and those which make DIY "Better" than the rest, will be added and or upgraded in the near future, as needed.

Stay tuned. More of what is "Better" is yet to come..........

Safewatch,

NOPE, New Posts has it's own spot in the blue bar above Thread Tools.

Originally, it was listed in the pull-down menu under Quick LInks(and it did not work).
But a new spot was created by Mr Admin just in the last couple hrs for New Posts.

This animal is evolving as we key!!!

Well I think I like the new look??? It will take a little getting used to. One thing as far as I can see is with the "new posts". If I use the pull down under
"quick links", I get sent to a page that says "access is denied". And I can't find it in the new spot that Fewalt referred to either?? Is it just me or am I missing something somewhere? As they say up here " can't see the forest for the trees"..........ha ha.

One gripe:

I hate all the "info" links above the actual forum link on the quicklink pages (by clicking on a forum community on the very top bar it takes you to a page with a bunch of stuff).

I like that the information is there, but I don't like scrolling to the bottom to find an embedded link to the forum. Just put the actual forum link at the top of the page.

Other than that, I like it. With php, I'm sure the overhaul was just a click of a button (if used from some of the template php forums that are readily available).

Yes I see it now Fred. And it works great. Was it there before? If it was I overlooked it, which is very possible.

AGREED! What's the deal here? This is very irritating. I'm looking to see if it's a new default setting a user can change, but if not, PLEASE change it back to the old style, admins!

I understand that the value of the words on the blue field is that it loads faster. I find it to be confusing and drab, in addition to the white letters on the blue field being difficult to read.

The first time that I saw it, I thought the BB had no data to display.

When the former format opened you had a better feel for what had changed and how it had changed. Now all you have is the icon for new posts sitting the midst of all the blue.

I prefer the former format.

Agreed. I have a pop-up blocker and it doesn't even stop this ridiculous ad for the laser level. This is truly getting intolerable...

I missed the ad for the laser level. Maybe I need to install the plugins for Konqueror.

Can we just stop the stupid pop-up ad? I can get used to the new format, now that the color is changed it's not bad. But the pop-up drives me nuts.

Mattison,

Are you referring to the bullseye laser level ad? I know, it's irritating as hell. Anyways, THAT is a shockwave ad. If you disable Shockwave, it should stop. I haven't disabled Shockwave only because I use it constantly on other sites I visit. However, if you don't or rarely use it, try to disable it and see what happens.

1. We are working on this issue to make the New Post feature available to all users. The probelm revolves around a software issue were when the internal forums search is disabled the New post option is also disabled also. We are working with vBulliten to get a fix for this problem.

The internal forum search is only being made available to a selective few to minimized the demand on the server which results in quicker page displays. Currently only Admins, Super Mods, Mods, and a select few members clasified as "Registered Heavy Users" have access to the internal search feature.

2. The display frequency of the laser level advertisement has been reduced to 3 exposures per person per day so as long as the person allows cookies from us they should not see the advertisment as much. Unfortunately we can't "loose" the advertisement since as we are being paid big $$$ to have it displayed site wide. Btw, I don't like the advertisement either .

Thumbs down Forum Search

As a new user, I have to say that not having the Internal Search feature for Forums greatly reduces the usefulness of the forum itself. Other forums limit the number of searches that can be performed by a user in a certain time period so as to prevent system overload. Allowing only select users to search sends a negative message to the general public, thereby alienating those users and potentially limiting valuable input from them.

That's a very good point. I think it's important for ALL forum members to be on equal footing in forums. After all, forums are about getting and finding information. There are many pressing issues, and I'm sure the admins here (who are a great bunch) will work this out soon, sir.

Have a great day and welcome to DIY!
