Thumbs up Christmas music

if you had to pick just one song, sung by one person/group/version, what would it be?

i've decided i absolutely love Kenny Loggins' "Celebrate Me Home" song. i think it is undoubtedly the most beautifully written/sung/choreographed/mixed/whatever song i've ever heard. and i can't stop singing it!!!!

Pleeeeeeze, cel-e-brate me hoooome.....

************************
here are the lyrics:

Home for the holidays,
I believe I've missed each and every face,
Come on and play my music,
Let's turn on the love light in the place

It's time I found myself,
Totally surrounded in your circles
Whoa, my friends

Please, celebrate me home,
Give me a number,
please, celebrate me home
Play me one more song,
That I'll always remember,
and I can recall,
whenever I find myself too all alone,
I can sing me home.

Uneasy highway,
Traveling where the Westerly winds can fly,
Somebody tried to tell me,
But the men forgot to tell me why,

I gotta count on being gone,
Come on woman, come on daddy,
Be what you want from me,
I'm this strong, I'll be weak

Please, celebrate me home,
Give me a number,
please, celebrate me home
Play me one more song,
That I'll always remember,
I can recall,
whenever I find myself too all alone,
I can make believe I've never gone,
I never know where I belong,
Sing me home.

Please, celebrate me home,
Give me a number,
please, celebrate me home
Play me one more song,

Celebrate, celebrate
Celebrate, celebrate
Celebrate, celebrate
Celebrate me home

Please, celebrate me home,
Please, celebrate me home,
Well I'm finally here,
But I'm bound to roam,
Come on celebrate me home
Well I'm finally here,
But I'm bound to roam,
Come on celebrate me home
Well I'm finally here,
But I'm bound to roam,
Come on celebrate me home
Please, celebrate me home,
Please, celebrate me home,
Please, celebrate me home,
Please, celebrate me home,
Please, celebrate me home,
Please, celebrate me home,
(fade)

HOWEVER - somebody please explain the lyrics to me!!!! i don't get these 2 parts:

Uneasy highway,
Traveling where the Westerly winds can fly,
Somebody tried to tell me,
But the men forgot to tell me why,

I gotta count on being gone,
Come on woman, come on daddy,
Be what you want from me,
I'm this strong, I'll be weak

???????? anyone ???????????????

No personal feelings or events connected here but I have loved Elvis Presleys "Blue Christmas" every since it came out. Have heard some new versions by very talented artists but they just can't compare.
Annette,You DO remember Elvis don't you? He was after Kate Smith LOL.

I love a good Christmas Himm. Good song Annette. I like the Elvis Presley as well, but also listen to the modern Christmas of today. You know, songs that have been remaked?

If you think "Grandma" is funny you need to check out Bob Rivers' stuff:

http://www.bobrivers.com/

Play the clips "The Angel" and "Who Put the Stump"; the first one is a lead-in to the second one.

Bit on a serious note - "All I Want for Christmas is You" by Vince Vance & the Valiants.

That's an interesting question, Annette. But it's one I can't answer because I think a lot depends on the performer. I think people like Linda Ronstadt, Mel Torme, Barbra Streisand, Josh Groban, and countless others could make singing names from a phone book sound great. And it's hard 'not' to like anything from Manheim Steamroller as well.

But now that Christmas is over for this year (and to take nothing away from its spirit), had you asked what is the worst Christmas song then tops on my list would be 'Silver Bells.' And that's only because a few years back my wife and I went to a Dinner Theatre and a woman performer sang that song so L-O-U-D that it still rings inside my wee-brain 'til this day. Awful, just plain awful.

Next in line would be "I saw Mommy kissing Santa Claus", then next comes... Well, you get the idea.

Merry Christmas Everyone!

Wow, Annette, I love that song too. Just to hear those first few tinkles on the piano makes me feel good. I'm not sure about those lyrics. I always thought he was saying "Come on Momma, Come on Daddy" and "I'll be strong, I'll be weak". But I really don't know. I've tried searching them but I think that a lot of websites are unreliable. They seem to all have the same misspellings and misquotes. I might keep searching. Anywho, it's a great song. I don't really think of it as a Christmas song. If anything, maybe more of a Thanksgiving song but I don't associate it with any.

As far as Christmas tunes, I love The Christmas Song for it's lyrics and melodies. I really like Christmas music in general. How about Good King Wenceslaus? That's got some good lyrics. I like to sing that one. Mel Torme (cowriter of The Christmas Song) did a good version of that one. How about Vince Guaraldi's Peanuts music? "Christmas Is Coming", "Skating", "Christmastime Is Here". So many good ones, it's hard to choose. Wonderful Christmastime by Paul McCartney. Holly and the Ivy, I really like that. I like Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas by the Pretenders. Check out Silver Bells by R.E.M. Christmas Rap by the Waitresses. I have a bunch of favorites that I'm forgetting.

Oh, was I supposed to be working?

Edit:

Here's another website opinion:

Uneasy highway,
Traveling where the westerly winds can fly.
Somebody try to tell me,
But the man forgot to tell me why.
I gotta count on being gone...
Come on mama!
Come on daddy!
Hear what you want from me yeah...
I'll be strong and
I'll be weak...
