uploading pictures

I was wondering how one goes about importing or inserting an image in a thread. I wanted to share some of my work that I have been doing with others.

Thanks,

Mike

Mike,

In order to have an image appear in a post you must have it hosted somwhere else and then link to it with a short code.
I use Photobucket but there are other free hosts.
Also, the codes must be turned on as shown at the bottom of the page under "Posting Rules"

$img src="http://doityourself.com/image/page/diy-logo-155x60.gif"$
The dollar sign must be replaced with the symbol < at the beginning and > at the end.

Yes, but vB Code and HTML is on which is what works for the pics I am posting here and is what you use the above code for.
The only flooring forum where they are not turned on is Bamboo and Exotics.
A moderator only need agree to monitor and ask that they be turned on.

You still need to have a host as you cannot post a pic here.
Technically you can, but the allowable file size is too small to be of any use.

Sorry but it doesn't work.
You are seeing the posted image but no one else does.
I checked the link and you must be registered to view images on that site.
You will need to have an account at a photo host that allows linking.

I use Photobucket which is for the purpose of linked images, but there are others.
I just found that when I was looking for myself, the reviews said it was the least invasive in terms of pop ups and spam.
Been using it for about a year and have had no problems.

Only you can see it because your cookies let the site know it's you.

I got the url using my "powers", tried the link and the site needs you to be registered in order to gain access.
If these are pictures of your own you will need to upload to a photo host that allows linking.

Try here.

Greg, I thought I remember it being said that using your method of posting pictures, even though it works, is still forbidden

What would be the point of turning off image code in vB if you could just easily circumvent it? Don't get me wrong, I would love to be able to post pics again, but I don't want to ruffle any feathers.

The img code is turned off for security purposes, not to limit the posting of images.
Feel free to post images.

If you own the images there is no restriction except that the content must be suitable for a family oriented site.
If you do not own the images you must have permission to post them and the owner must be credited if you do.

Rules pertaining to images:

6.) Photos and Graphics Posting of photos and graphics from other websites and or any publications are strictly prohibited, unless you have permission from the owner of the work. Document the source of the photo by including a credit to the author.

15.) All posted material that is not created by Members (whether found and or posted on the web, newspaper, magazine, etc.) must be documented as to its source. Links should cite the source and/or author to avoid legal issues. Failure to document sources for research may result in posts being edited and/or deleted.

Site rules.
