Priceless daughter

Got the best Father's Day present ever this morning. Poured a cup of coffee and grabbed the morning paper for my usual Sunday morning routine. Three pages into the local "Our Town" section, on a page about Father's Day, I started to read an item about someone's Dad. Took two lines to discover it was about....me? Checked the byline; Katie, my 17 year old daughter. I was floored! And this wasn't a couple of paragraphs. We're talking quarter page here about all kinds of things she remembers when growing up. Guess maybe I'll forget how much she and Mom spent on clothes yesterday.

Thanks. I missed a lot of her growing up due to my deployment schedule when I was on active duty (6 months out/12 months home), but I retired when she was 10, so I've been around 24/7 since 5th grade. And I can't take ALL the credit; her Mom, my loving wife, is terrific.

Hard not to think you're a pretty good parent when something like this happens.
