The Tigers

How many of you think the Detroit Tigers will make it to the world series this year.

About the same chance as the Toledo Mud Hens making it. Detroit doesn't want to pay for good ballplayers. They are happy making their money off the pizza and beer in the stands.

Here's a shocker: Parking is now free at Tropicana Field for TB Devil Rays games.

This new manger as taken all his teams to the world series.Just as not won any he retired and when the tigers heard he was coming out of retirement they opened up there wallets and grab him.If they don't make then they will be pretty darn close.

Managers don't hit or catch the ball. I thought Sparky Anderson would do the trick but he had nothing to work with. Last I knew, Tom Monahan owned the Tigers and he probaly uses the team for a tax write-off for Dominos pizza business.

To speak purely objectively about the teams, I don't think the Tigers stand a great chance because they will, in all likelihood, have to go up against the White Sox to get there. On paper, the Tigers may be as talented (I'm not sure that's even true), but the experience the Sox gained last year makes them the odds on favorite in a head-to-head playoff battle.

I thought we beat the white sox a few games ago and held on to 1 1/2 game lead.

You're right. I'm just saying that when the playoffs come, you're going to see a different result.

Yep. Football, baseball and then hockey starts next week. Is it just me, or are the sports seasons getting a little too long?

I'm thinking it will take less - Yanks in four (btw, it's a best of five series).

Not a yanks fan either, just think the tigers have self-destructed in the last two weeks to the extent that they can't beat anyone anymore.

Here's how it works....

Once football season starts...baseball season is over.

They play too many games to keep my interest. Lose 60 games and still make playoffs ???

Tow Guy's angle on Rapture's theory:

Once the Final Four is over, nothing else matters.

Annette - Quite a while ago, when I was on one of many overseas deployments during basketball season, we had a March Madness pool (college basketball tourney) going, the kind where you have to fill in the entire chart for every game all the way to the finals and get points for correct picks in each round. One of the officer's wives won the pool by picking "all the good Catholic schools". Just happened to be the year all the good Catholic schools were hot.

I was sure she was going to say "best shoes" vice "cutest outfits".

When dealing with us males of the species, that is not a wise assumption to make.

I was trying to decide how to ask that same question delicately: Himself? Annette? Football players? Cheerleaders? Enquiring minds want to know.

I see the Yanks knocking off the Tigers. They have too much talent compared to Detroit. Though the Tigers have a good young team that should be in contention for years to come. Go Yanks!

I think that's ultimately going to be the downfall of the Tigers this year - lack of experience. But I agree that they should be good for a few years now with the young talent they have. It'll be interesting to see what they do next year.
