First weekend of Fall

So how did everyone else spend the first weekend of the Fall season?

TG cut the grass, took the wife & youngest to the beach, and watched a little football.

Went up to the in-laws' lake place, dropped four dead birch trees and took the pontoon and boat lift out of the water for winter.

oooh! a SURVEY!!! cool!!

Saturday, i froze my tookus (sp?) off watching 7 year olds play flag football in the morning, then spent the rest of the afternoon shopping for, among other things.....yes.....SHOES!!!

Sunday, went to church then to a family reunion (hubby's side - picnic in a park) and, once again, froze off said tookus (shouldn't it be GONE by now??? ).

Mitch17 - I guess that's some of the difference between Missouri winter and Wisconsin winter - I have a boat on a lift, and we just leave it up and winterize it on the lift. I guess I couldn't do that further north.

I started getting ready to close the pool, deflated the four gazillion pool toys/rafts/floaties the grandkids play with (bigger job than winterizing the pool). Cleaned a gutter, pulled a few weeds. Finished the weekend off by watching the Rams and Cardinals compete to see who could lose the game. It was close there, but the Cardinals finally pulled it out - the loss that is.

Up here, the boat doesn't go in the water until after Memorial Day and comes out shortly after Labor Day. Hardly seems worth it.

haha...

It wasn't THAT bad. I was just crackin' up cuz on tv they circled his "tushy" w/a black marker. It wasn't completely ripped off or anything like that. But it was pretty clear.

Annette,

If you are "freezing my tookus off" in 60 degrees, what are you going to do when it actually gets cold? (If the answer is move to your winter home in the Caribbean, you better include directions and invitations!)

I figured as much, but wanted to pick on you a little... Your response reminded me that very soon now I can say goodbye to arms and legs and feet - until Spring. People seem so much more at ease and open and friendly when they can wear shorts and t-shirts and flip flops - in winter everybody's hiding from the weather and seem more cut off from everybody else. We are only a few days into Fall, and I miss Summer already!

I haven't winterized it yet, but checking on my pool this evening the water temp was 66. It is definitely not summer swimming weather here in Missouri. But at least it's still a pool and not an ice rink!

Current temp 55 (nicest night we've had in two weeks)
Low tonight 40

Had to scrape car windows twice already. Blowing out the sprinkler lines this weekend, Picked up leaves twice but a waste because there are just as many an hour later. Just got home from playing hockey (indoors). Shorts????

It was gorgeous today. 20 degrees ...........celsius......about 68 fahrenheit. My perfect day. Sunny, warm (don't like hot), light breeze and fabulous colour from leaves that are left. Even got to sit on the deck today while I BBQd salmon steaks. Just doesn't get any better

Its great having 4 seasons. I love it.

It's a love/hate thing. They're good people, but they sometimes have some interesting driving habits. And of course going out to a restaurant to eat is out of the question between Thanksgiving and Easter.

I can only imagine life surrounded by snow birds that are driving when they shouldn't be while looking for a place to use a coupon. Poor you.

If I could find a link for the song "If It's Snowbird Season, Why can't We Shoot 'em?" I would post it. ["Bag 'em & tag 'em & ship 'em back overnight air...."]
