Too Cool

Anybody out there trying out Google Earth? About the coolest thing I've seen in while; even the free version has amazing resolution in some areas.

I have it on each PC, and use it every day or more.

Thumbs up

That, or I use Nasa's version called World Wind. In some areas that I do things, the resolutions in Google Earth aren't that great. I have to use the 1m resolution Digital Ortho photo (DOQQ) images that are taken from a plane flyover. Some areas are older, but the 1 meter resolution is awsome. Tilting the maps at an angle and then doing a flyover is great, as well as good for seeing the elevation of surrounding areas. You can even see and zoom in topo maps.

They have added lots of nifty things into WorldWind since I began using it. You can now see the moon and the weather and cloudcover and precipitation for a given week or more.

Everyone should check it out.

Hey, Addict; put some clothes on when you go out to pick up the morning paper from the driveway!

Funny I was just playing with Google earth recently. Only thing about it is the images are years old. Houses that were built about 3 years ago are missing in the area over my house. Same thing with a Va area I am familiar with. Also I have been unable to target any nude beaches which makes it pretty useless lol. It is pretty neat how it seems to zoom in though.

Too bad you can't use that image to sell your house!

Sweet deal! How much for you to tow it to my house? (This'll be a great deal considering I don't really own one...)

Well, of course the storage lot is down here. Good deal just for you - $3/mi and I'll waive the storage charges.

I use it and think it's great

I send the "snapshots" to people who don't have it, and the "placemarks" to those that do

I must say it was an invaluable tool when we bought a house out of state
Between that and the web listings and virtual tours the rest of the family was able to get a clue on what one of us had looked at that day.....hundreds of miles away

Some of the images on Google Earth are as recent as three months, but some are older
