Okay all you creative types.....

College Daughter is looking for a Halloween costume idea. The catch is that she will be leading a group of deaf elementary school kids through the the building (Flagler College - Ponce de Leon Hall) as an event with the Deaf Awareness Club (she's a Deaf Ed major). They said to keep it G-PG as the kids will be K-5.

Best idea gets a free tow (anywhere in Sarasota County, FL).

A princess, clown, Raggedy Ann, Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz or other favorite storybook character from one of their recent reads like the Cat in the Hat. A scarecrow is an easy costume. A cowgirl would be an easy one, too.

If she's leading them around, then the Pied Piper would be good.

In my Boy Scout leader days a simple costume I came up with was a bee keeper outfit.
A pair of white coveralls, a mosquito head net and a head piece with a bunch of craft store bees on springy wire.

She certainly would be a leader if you were followed by a bunch of student bees.

Gee Tow Guy. You'd probably get a lot more help if you weren't limiting the tow to the FL area.

How about she dresses like a stop sign or a road sign that says "BOO" The theme being that she's using "sign language". Hope thats not disrespetful but I have a hearing aid (supposed to have two but I'm only 51 and wont' wear two, I'm too vain) and I'd think think it was funny.

If I win, I'm in Orlando mid nov, maybe I'll plan a breakdown in the rental.

Wish I could come up with something for you to consider but since a child I've been in monster mode for halloween. Good luck.

Drum major, conductor, parade leader, traffic cop, runway worker with the signal flashlights (but that would keep her hands full) - all give directions with hand signals.

Helen Keller would be cool too. She could wear a "Hi my name is" sticker to help identify her character.

Beethoven would be good too.

Hearing awareness? Go as a rock star with HUGE earplugs in the ears.

could she dress as the head of a caterpillar, the children as the body linked together either by arms when moving or some other means? or are they coming as they are? I also liked the piper idea too.

The best idea I think is the Pied Piper - she even plays the clarinet (not a flute, but on well). Two problems, unfortunately; my wife thought of the Pied Piper before I posted here and daughter will need to have hands free for communication. But next time you're broke down in Sarasota County, give me a call AxlMyk.

I'll post back what she decides on.

Tell you what. Next time you have to tow a needy family, give them a freebie.
Hope your daughter and her charges have fun.

Just to update everyone, we visited for Family Weekend and she had me bring along an old set of my Marine utilities (aka BDU's) that she's going to dress up in. Probably swallow her up; I'm 5'8 & 175# and she's about 5'2 and 105# soaking wet.

I do a freebie or reduced cost tow about once a week, so no problem there.
