gov't efficiency

We got our rebate check monday
Today we got a letter stating we should get our check on friday and who to contact if we don't get it within 6 weeks.

I'm not complaining, glad to have gotten the check but getting the letter about the check is almost comical

gov't efficiency - oxymoron.

Probably the stupidest idea the idiots in the Capitol have cooked up in a long time. They also sent out notification they were GOING to send out the checks. I'm sure in six months we'll all get letters reminding us that if we didn't get one to report it. And of course it is ALL borrowed money; no doubt financed by T-bills bought by Red China. Will I cash mine? Yes. Sending it back would be a futile gesture.

On the plus side, I'm sure the USPS is doing quite well this year.

I couldn't agree more!

Does the gov't ever do anything that makes economic sense?

I'm reminded of a joke I read long ago,
The gov't had a scrap yard and decided they ought to have a night watchman so they hired one but then they needed an accounting office to pay him and of course a committee to oversee them, etc. Due to budget cuts they laid off the night watchman.

Pretty funny if it wasn't so close to being the truth
