Possible virus on this site...

I'm going to relate my experience just now here on the site.I cannot confirm that the site has a problem but it's worth checking.I didn't know where else to post this>

I was in the plumbing forum responding to a post concerning a mansfield toilet(titled as such and did not post reponse after incident). This post contains what looks to be a legitimate link to a mansfield listing. The link did not cause me any problems but when I clicked on the "quote" icon I got a pop up which appears to be an asian porn site (not in english) and my virus protection said a trojan had been caught and deleted.

I have no idea whether the mansfield link is involved or if this site has an issue or if it came from somewhere else but since I couldn't tell one way or another I wanted to make someone aware of the event. My protection did stop it from infecting my pc.

Did you use the "report post" triangle? That seems to get the quickest response..

Anything is possible but it is less likely that you would pick up something malicious from a site like this where there are many qualified site administrators in the background as opposed to some smaller less monitored sites that you may have visited.

I personally have had the most problems when looking for free stuff especially smilies, fonts and music.

Keep in mind that it is possible that your problems surfaced long after visiting an offending site.

Considering my activity patterns and where I have been lately online,I'd be genuinely surprised that I'd get a virus from that although anything really is possible.

That said, yesterday this site's forums were down later in the day after the incident. Was that related?

They were down because the software was updated to the newest version.
I tried clicking on the icons you mentioned plus others and did not get any popups or virus warnings. I click on lots of links and icons because of my duties, and I haven't had any strange happenings. I don't think it had anything to do with this forum.

Well today, like every other day except yesterday, nothing odd has happened so let's hope it stays that way.

Considering that this event took place after clicking the link a poster had in a plumbing post,I'm wondering if that was the source.

Just another day in cyberland.
