Google dead

Is it just me or did Google crash rather badly this morning?

I was using it earlier and then when I went back to search for something all the search results contain a note that "this website may harm your computer" and when you try to click on any link you get a warning page. Trying to get past that gets you a server error page. Weird.

Google says if you get this message:

Warning - visiting this web site may harm your computer!
  • Return to the previous page and pick another result.
  • Try another search to find what you're looking for.

Yup, I'm having the same problem too.

I can't even go to Kohlers website through Google.

My wife called me yesterday indicating she had a blue screen with white writing saying she was going to die (apparently) in 10 seconds. That was the gist, anyway. I told her not to click anything, and to shut her computer down via the off button. Twelvepole, what was the deal? Your post stated that Google said if you get this message....what did they say? It looked like an advertisement for Stopbadware.org. Was it? Anyone know what was up? Was it a hack? Google hasn't owned up to anything, yet.

No problems with Google here. Been Googling all morning.

No, Google did not get its name from the lyrics by Billy Rose.

Barney Google, with the goo-goo-goo-ga-ly eyes.
Barney Google bet his horse would win the prize.
When the horses ran that day, Spark Plug ran the other way.
Barney Google, with the goo-goo-goo-ga-ly eyes.
Barney Google, with the goo-goo-goo-ga-ly eyes.

Barney Google had a wife three times his size
She sued Barney for divorce
Now hes living with his horse.
Barney Google, with the goo-goo-goo-ga-ly eyes.

Google took its name from the word 'googol,' mean a large number with a '1' and 100 zeros following. They thought of googolpex, '1' with a googol of zeros, for the amount of research their data base would contain. But, someone misspelled googol as 'google,' and that's what they went with.

But, many feel that the mathemetician who came up with the name 'googol' was likely influenced by the popular 1920s song.

Now it's working fine again, no messages, so I guess it was taken care of. When it was doing it before, it didn't matter what link I clicked on, I got the message.

Although I am not having any problems, apparently there is a problem with Google's malware detector.

It must have been a hack attempt or a major glitch on some of their servers.

According to what I am reading, it's a malfunction of their malware detector.

WOW! I knew twelvepole was pretty, ummm, mature, but she remembers Barney Google?

Came back after being gone all day and Google is back to its old self. Thought I was losing my mind or something [here's your chance for payback, 'pole].

But according to their PR release it only happened during a 1 hour period on Saturday morning. My wife got hers on Friday, so there's some damage control taking place.
