If bad taste took a holiday...

IF bad taste took a holiday....

TV Judge shows would be taken off the air

Daytime talk shows would be taken off the air (Jerry Springer and his ilk)

Prescription drug ads would be taken off the air

Spandex would not be made in large sizes

Politicians that pronounce the word nuclear with two U's would be banned from voting on anything to do with it

Brussels Sprouts and cauliflower would be made unavailable

Personal injury lawsuits should be settled with the person suing being given 14 T-shirts they must be forced to wear each day saying "I cannot watch what I am doing or where I am going"

That teal color popular in the 90's would be changed

The macarena song will never be played anywhere again, thank goodness I never heard it.

Boy and girl bands would be restricted to the towns they escaped from and not be heard on the radio.

Reality TV would only be news, sporting events or improvement shows such as dealing with houses and vehicles.

Tv channels will have some input with each other so if a sitcom is in syndication, different episodes would be given to different channels so you don't see the same episode 5 times the same week.

Tv ads must show some sign of intelligence unlike today's ads.

If anyone can think of other things please add them.

No television journalist or commentator will be allowed to express a political opinion or ideology while on air.

No fast food restaurant or chain will be allowed to portray thier products as being healthy or endorsed by athletes.

All big box retail businesses will be required to inform viewers of advertisements where the products they sell are made,in what ways they have been altered to meet pricing and how many employees they have within the company that have enough actual knowledge of what they sell that they are capable of informing the public how to use them properly.

The number of lawyers in this country would be reduced by at least 95%.

Personal injury lawyers wouldn't be allowed to advertise on TV.

Government would practice what the rest of us do. We have to cut spending so they should follow suit.

Nowhere near as many total posts as you Hot. My mind does wander into strange tangents, guess I can thank the autism for that, but some of the trips can be interesting.

Cars that hide batteries where you can't find them, would not be allowed. Locating spark plugs so you cannot get to them will not be allowed. Putting belts where you have to dismantle half the engine to change them will not be allowed.

Any pet project a city has would not be allowed until all the potholes got filled -or -the city paid for damages to your vehicle.

Gov't employees would be paid (as our employees) according to the amount we determine.

Putting preservatives in frozen food, and in ingredients to be used for frozen food, would no longer be allowed.

People that are on some gov't dole for a bad back, yet can go hunting, and perform other physical feats in leisure, would be required to do some sort of work for their check. This also would apply to insurance payouts as these too affect everyone.

Law enforcement should no longfer be able to single out 1 traffic violator for some offense where 80+ peercent of the time no attempt is made to get the others for the same offense. This would hasten action on their part to come up with a system, using technology if need be, to create a more fair system.

More disposable items would be disposed of. (To compliment already existing recycling efforts)

Law would be passd that wasting energy would be forbidden, such as leaving t'vs on, when taking a trip to the store, - lights left on in rooms not used, HVAC left on to normal setting when not home, etc.

Marijuana would be legalized, taxed, and sold with the same restrictions and penalties as alcohol.

All funds and resources currently used to enforce it's criminality as well as all tax revenues derived from it would be added to efforts to combat heroin, coke and meth use and to block importation from Mexico as well as education and addiction treatment efforts.

(I know not all will agree but this is an opinion thread)

Are you a Libertarian like me spdavid?

People discussing disgusting medical issues in restaurants will be forced to whisper to each other about them.

Men will not deliberately hit the seat or wall when using bathrooms when they are not at home.

Politicians would be forced to take pay cuts down to what a normal person makes.

Car stereo systems would be made so that people 50 feet from the car cannot hear what the driver is playing. This would also ban bass systems that shake house windows as people drive by.

People will not be allowed to text and drive at the same time.

People would not pick their noses in public.

I'm a CommonSenseitarian.

As long as alcohol is legal it's hypocritical for marijuana not to be especially since it's less damaging than alcohol is.

Partially bald and over 30 men would not be allowed to have pony tails.

The Tie would be banned as a waste of material.

I love UPS! FedEx and The US Postal Service would be absorbed by UPS and made to operate to their standards of service.

In CT where I live, you are banned from using a cell while driving unless you have a hands- free device.

It would be a felony to be driving at or below the speed limit in the left lane of the highway if you are not passing anyone.

Speedo type bathing suits would only be made for professional swimmers.

If people cannot afford to have kids, they shouldn't be allowed to have them. Such as that (insert expletive here)who had 8 kids a few months back to bring her total to 14.

The movie industry would be banned from making dumbed down remakes such as Mr. Deeds and Invasion of the Earth.

People would be banned from jamming their hands into their pants in public.

Excessive PDA couples should be forced to rent a room or at least find a vacant bathroom stall.

Banks that take government handouts and then make explosive profits should be forced to pay the money back plus heavy interest since their avarice and greed got them into trouble.

Dying a dog's fur to match their owner's eye color should be banned.

Oil filters would not be placed halfway under crossmembers making it so you don't have to do some weird arm exercise to change your own oil ( might just be that I have long arms).

Mini spare tires would be banned. I don't know about everyone else, but I wouldn't mind sacrificing some trunk space for a real tire.

Male enhancement emails would be stopped.

At the motor vehicle department there should be a five minute limit at the window to register a car. I mean if you cannot fill out a registration form without help perhaps you should find help with this elsewhere instead of tying up a DMV employee for an hour. I can get my own registrations taken care of in about 3 minutes. At least my state finally started to accept plastic.

Income tax forms should not need a PH.D to figure them out. I dont need help with the 1040 EZ, but that is pretty Dick and Jane. I looked at the long form once and I was like whoa.

Spammers should be forced to prominently show any email, phone numbers and home addresses so everyone can flood them with so many catalogs and offers they might realize, "Hey this ticks people off, maybe I should stop spamming".

Corporate welfare would be banned.

Chewing tobacco containers would come with a spit cup. As a former member of the smoking tribe, I personally think that chewing and spitting is nasty.

Ex-smokers would be banned from preaching. I don't. If someone asks me how I quit, I will tell them how I did it. If people ask me if I smoke, I only say I'm an ex and leave it at that.

MS wouldn't be allowed to run confusing, misleading ads that suggest Windows and PC are the same thing. Windows is an operating system, PC is a type of hardware (personal computer). In fact Macs are PCs also and there are operating systems other then Windows and Mac that run on PCs. You would never know any of that though listening to a MS Windows commercial.

The word "strategist" would be replaced by the word "mouthpiece" when preceded by any word associated with politics.

People who followed the advice of any television, print or online investment adviser or commentator and lost money would have to wear an "I'm an idiot" sign.

The word "Czar" would never be used again in the context of the U.S. government.

Freecreditreport.com would be forced to get rid of the first word in their site name and they would get rid of those idiots that sing in their ads.Even better, no stupid songs that make me want to blow up my TV.

Creditreport.com would have a more noticeable mention that it is a credit monitoring service. I got nailed $14.95 for not cancelling after 7 days when I just wanted to see my credit report.

The Geico gecko will be eaten by the Aflac duck, the pile of money in the Geico ads will be taken by someone and spent. I hope my premiums are NOT paying for these ads.

Am I the only one that sees the recurring theme in all these posts? That theme is MORE LAWS.

I was born in and grew up in a country with a totalitarian government. Trust me, you do not want more laws, especially laws concerning such trivial matters. I do agree that many of the things mentioned in these posts are of questionable taste yet I would rather suffer the poor taste than to live under a totalitarian government.

Luana, most of these posters are doing it "tongue-in-cheek" or as a comedy routine. It would be nice to have it that way, but our screwed up society won't allow it.
You are absolutely right. We have too many laws on the books at present that are not enforced, and our legislators are trying to enact more. Dumb, huh?
Most of what they are mentioning are actually a result of more laws, or lack of regulation, allowing stupidity to rein.
MelissaE, I have tried to text and drive. It can't be done! I use a bluetooth when I drive, not to impress people, but to be able to drive more sanely. I don't need the state government to tell me it is the law.

And perhaps to do some needed 'venting'.

I vent all the time when driving and cars are behind me by like 1/2 car length instead of 5. My blood pressure goes up.

As a person that does car pool at my school you wouldn't believe the number of people that text and drive. I have no problem with people using a hands free method of driving (I was living in CT when they passed that law) and now Colorado has it too. Unfortunately, it seems that the police don't ticket those people texting when driving and then get into an accident under distracted driver laws. If they did, we may not need the hands-free laws.

BTW, I do think it is a smart idea to have graduated licenses when it comes to teenagers and cell phones while driving.

In England I heard that the drinking age was 16 and the driving age is 18 which makes sense to me at least(i'm 34). This way you could learn to handle alcohol before you drive. I wonder if this would actually lower drunk driving fatalities.

Wow.......my first thought was give me a tasteless, no class society before you guys become the Dictator in Chief.

Now I know you're all just messing around and having a little fun.

So with that being said......No more Viagra, Extenz, or penial enlargement commercials when I'm watching Sponge Bob with my daughters and a ban on camel toe........fat guys that wear tee shirts that are 3 sizes to small........and a ban on peircings at the face, nose or tonge.........gah....rossse!

I have a tongue stud, which isn't really visible unless I stick my tongue out, and my ex-girlfriend loved it.

Government welfare would be replaced by private charity.

HMO's will cover tooth extraction for infected teeth instead of only covering after infection has spread from the tooth.

People will learn English (American version) before moving here from other countries. I am tempted to learn how to say "Go back home if you don't want to learn English" in various languages. If I ever go abroad, I will at least try to get a working knowledge of the local language instead of forcing my language down their throats.

People would be physically incapable of giving birth until age 25 at the earliest.

Men should not be angry if they are asked "When is the baby due?" if they are 50 pounds overweight.

In this day and age of technology, they could invent a chip that is planted in your car that will not allow text messages to be sent. Who is "they"? -

-Maybe that smart person who invented the computer operated knitting machine (By Brother, in her case)that can basically knit complex items that might even include all kinds of raised picture-patterns, and do it all in various colors where it is supposed to be.

I just got back, a while ago today, from trying to diagnose this lady's power-vented water heater, when she showed me this large article she knitted in a day -with all these square raised pictures on it. I asked, "You knitted all this during some part of just one day?! How?!" (Some day I will watch that thing work, for the fun of it.)

She took me in her bedroom to show me this complex loom device, the length of and somewhat resembling a home organ, with computer operated equipment attached (that move along the 'keyboard', so to speak), and all these push in and pull out needles (I think 95?), and how she programs into it what she wants it to knit. Who is (the geniuses)coming up with such stuff?!

Ec, that was just a lure to get you in her bedroom. Gotta watch those older gals, they're slick! Our former "citizen's center" geared for older folks had one of those looms. Man what a blast!
NOP, that's why the military had our guys driving Huey's at 19 years old 100 mph and 100 feet off the deck. Drinking age was 21. Sober Huey drivers! Crazy as loons, but sober.

If you can afford a new Porsche, you can afford to go faster than 3 mph over the speed limt. I mean, if you buy a vehicle with that much horsepower and handling, it should be a crime not to take advantage of it
