Signature and Search Feature problem

Signatures.......where's the option for them now? I think you need to turn them back on so people can talk to me by my first name. Knee jerk reactions to spammers is not an excuse to remove the option.

Also, I get the following error almost everytime I try to use advanced search. Doesn't matter if it's in IE or Firefox. I've asked this question in the past, but with zero response. Thanks

I agree, Mark. I think we could use a little personalization with our posts. And the database error page occurs often, and I believe it is just being overloaded, because a few minutes later it will be fine.

Unless I'm mistaken the signature line was done away with because a few bad apples were including spam in the line. Many of us think that after a minimum post count, some of these restrictions should be lifted but those in charge either don't agree or it's too hard to implement

Maybe new signatures could be vetted by a mod before being allowed to be set. I know more work for the overworked mods but it could be tested for a short period to see if it is doable without too much extra work.

The thing is, the mods aren't even the ones that do this. Internet Brands does it all.

Any resolution for the search error page issue? Just overloaded? It sure is annoying.

Nope, still happens frequently. Never received a word from the tech deptartment either. It's no wonder this website is going down in rank:

Forums Rankings - all software forums, all languages language, website ranking by posts

Pretty tough to compete against the sex and video game forums.

And you believe in those stats?
There are many websites, called "public meters", they are measuring Forums' vistors, number of links, etc. They don't ask for permisson to measure your website or forum, because the results are false--> You pay, you get a better place

Read carefully at the bottom of the page "Big-boards makes no representations whatsoever about any other website to which you may have access through this site and is not responsible for the accuracy or reliability of any information, data..."

I am a webmaster, and I received several "offers" to be the number 1.....
According with one of these meters, one of my websites never received a vistor since 2002 not even my own visits!!!
I use a paid service to track my websites and these results are really accurate

Sorry, but IMO, these public meters are worthless

While I agree with you Patricia (my wife got several offers like you described when she had a couple of sites of her own)..I have to pick that nit of course...lol.

"Big-boards makes no representations whatsoever about any other website to which you may have access through this site and is not responsible for the accuracy or reliability of any information, data, opinions, advice, or statements made on these sites."

I believe they were saying that about the listed sites..not their own. Otherwise it would be like saying....my product is the best...as long as you don't use it or compare it to anyone elses product....

Oh wait..they all DO do that don't they...lol

Hi Vic,

True, but most probably it is a "double read" statement... in other words, when they say "data" probably they mean "number of visitors provided by the websites"

A visit to a website hiring freelancers like getafreelancer.com, for example, can be very enlightening.
Wish to get 100 articles well written about guns or English biscuits or rockets?, no problem you can get it for $1.00 each 500 words (yes, one dollar)
Wish to bypass 4000 captcha verification sets each day? No problem you can get a service doing this in one hour by $50.00
Wish to get your website or forum in first place? no problem, you pay a fee and they hire a person, paying $0.02 / hit (yes, two cents)
