What is it?

Anyone know what these are? I thought at first that they were wells..but that doesn't fly...

Some sort of navigation system? Have seen them all over AZ and now ID and UT...[IMG][/IMG]

Man, Ray...yer as bad as me spending time here...lol...but I don't think so. They are out in the middle of nowhere...and don't really have any antennas of any sort like you normally see.

You don't need the height of normal antennae. It is line of sight. Or it could be an extension of Area 51, who knows?

VORTAC/TACAN navigation station I would guess. Looks very similar to TACAN transponder setup on military airfields.

Went by Area 51....sorta. Didn't drive over to the mountain viewing area thats something like 20 miles away.

But seriously..is it a navigation thing...? TACAN pics that I found don't look the same...jeez ...I used to work on those...scary huh?

Yep...after looking around...its a VORTAC transmitter.

It's actually a Dairy Queen stand - closed for the season.
