Genie Close Limit Switch

The other day the close limit switch to my garage door opener was hanging to the floor. I placed it back up on the track but the garage door still opens up immediately on its own after it closes. Do these magnetic switches go bad?

Yes..they can..esp if they hit the floor. You may also now have a damaged wire.
You might try moving it a little further up the rail and see if the door stops before fully closed..the magnetic type seem to sometimes be finicky about placement and proximity.

It is magnetic right? Not the type with the little plastic lever?

Do you have a multimeter? That circuit is really easy to check...it's either open or closed.

Welcome to the forums! Check the electric eyes at the foot of the doors for misalignment. See that the lights are operating. Figured out why it was knocked off the rail, yet?
