I'm back from PHX

Actually I forgot to post that I was leaving for a couple of days.

Wife ran her first full marathon Sunday. 26.2 in 4:45 ...missed her goal of 4:30...but not by much. That she can do it at all after taking up running just 18 months ago simply amazes me. Her best 1/2 marathon to date was 2:18 so I don't think 4:45 for a full is too darned shabby.

I'm just spoutin' off cause I'm proud of her.

I rode a bicycle a lot when I was a kid but I couldn't imagine walking 26 miles much less run that far. Shoot, I drive to the mailbox - just shy of .6 mile round trip

Quite a significant accomplishment. You have a right to be proud. Actually, she has a right to be proud - more than you .

Nice... that's a pretty good time. My wife has only done 1/2 marathons so far, and her best time was 2:27 if I recall. I'd have to take a week off of work to recover if I ever tried that! LOL

You ought to chime in with your 2 cents in the hog hunting thread where the guy is looking to but a gun.

I thought about a comment on that thread, but I never hunted larger game. I'm a "gun" guy now, not a hunting guy....lol.

A firearm doesn't require as much exertion

New knees, you don't "run" anywhere, even from a bear

Well Larry...you don't do it with my old knees either....at least not more than about 10 ft before they give out. Even then, it's more of a quick wobbly hobble.

He pulled you for 60mph on the freeway? Was this back in the 55mph days? If so, methinks he suspected you of more than a heavy foot.

My helper got pulled over going home last night. He has a veerrryyy heavy foot. State Patrol run the highway pretty good. He didn't get pulled over for speeding, but for a seat belt violation. Then they ran his plates......Still had the GA plates on a NC car. Not gonna be pretty.
Yeah, Vic, you gotta be proud of her, no doubt!

Larry - Is that just during recovery? My cousin had both her knees replaced about a year ago and she's skiing and jogging.

I'm not quite a year out. I went for a check up just before we went to Denver a couple of weeks ago and asked him if I could go skiing. His head looked like the one in the Exorcist, and he said "if you don't mind, no." He said maybe after a year.

Do people that run marathons know that the first guy to do it died?

Must have been the PF Chang's. Really a good time for her. Weather was good for running on Sunday (can't remember if it was windy?)

Funny... I got back from Phoenix yesterday morning and did a quote for someone last night that had the original PF Changs poster on the wall, in which they participated. Something like 32000 first time marathoners.

Can't imagine running anymore with these knees. I used to do Duo-athalons run/bike/run. Now I hurt after walking a couple blocks. Never did any marathoning.
