Proper door berm

I know there was a reason for this. It just escapes me. It has proper drainage, and the arc is impeccable. Just want to know why???Attachment 2426

No, the drunks will just go through the broken window on the left. Probably where someone landed when they tripped over this. Ouch.

Maybe it was suggested by an ambulance chasing lawyer
I can see where he'd have the opportunity for business

It looks like there is a small pipe at the bottom to drain the interior. But wouldn't that also flood it?

Yep, looks like a big liability issue to me as well.

Can't give you a good answer.

Funny thing...some lady tripped at the entrance to the gym and complained to the owner. The 5x5' stoop and ramp on the other side have probably been there for 40 yrs. She immediately painted the edge red with a caution label...but that prob wouldn't fly. I know by current code it probably requires a rail around 3 sides....but that won't happen anytime soon...and not by me in any case.

Just like the pipe railings on the steel stairs leading to both second floor entrances. They hit me just about middle of butt. Maybe 31-32"? About 5" below my waist. Just perfect for my center of gravity to carry me over if I stumbled or was shoved.

I've brought it up....but I just kinda got a look like.."Why is that an issue?".
