They look like tires but being a city boy I can't say.

They are tires cut in half and tied together to hold the tarp on the corn silage underneath. The corn is fed to dairy cows all year long. And believe it or not the State got wind of this makeshift pool and made the guy remove it because he didn't have or get permits for a pool! Only in California!

They use tires and a tarp to cover the silage around here but I've never seen any of them cut the tires in half. Hard to believe that the gov't would care about a temporary pool

I can imagine them cut in half so they don't collect water and become mosquito breeding grounds. Seems like it would be a real pain cutting through the belts though.

I wish we had done something like this. We had an in ground pool put in years ago with a plastic liner. It was a real pain to take care of so we filled it in due to lack of interest. It makes an interesting planter though
