How To Make Money

I am a member of USP Choice. One of the choices is Hold for pickup I like it because I don't have to wait for the delivery. But wait if I choose for them not to make a home delivery but hold at the terminal it is an extra $3.50. So they charge $3.50 not to send a driver to my house.

But it gets better. If the driver is unable to make the delivery I can ask them to hold for pickup for free.

Oh but it gets better. I could ask the shipper to ship to me in care of the USP terminal. No charge for that or at least not when I' use to do that but haven't in a while.

And just to be clear the terminal I pick up from isn't a UPS store. It is the same terminal the driver is dispatched from.

Isn't it just amazing. It's all about the fees.

Gets stranger. Arrived at UPS here yesterday and they sent it to the post office for delivery. I guess giving it to the post office is cheaper than just handing it to me.

UPS and DHL are doing that more and more nowadays. Puts one more day on my tracking.

I am following UPS tracking for a delivery date, waiting on the package, and boom, it is tomorrow already.

Guess I can't complain. It was free shipping and less than a week.

I have never had it happen with UPS but several times with FedEx that the final delivery is by USPS. I think that paying only a local bulk mailing charge might be a lot less expensive than running individual deliveries.

Did you know that FedEx carries most of the post offices packages? Not for actual delivery, but from region to region/city to city?

If you look at the tracking info...you'll see something like Smart Post or similar.

Smart Post is a FedEx service. They contract with the USPS to do the local delivery. The USPS uses other contractors to transport mail regionally.
