Wrong Email Notification?

Often I receive an email notification like the one bellow but when I go to the link there is no new email. Is this a bug or what?

"Hello kolias,

The notification may have already been in your mailbox when you read the newest post but you didn't go to your mail till after reading the latest post.

I recognize the thread you are talking about. It was replied to by a spammer early this morning. That spam post was removed but you still received a notification of that post because until we remove it... it's an active post.

And I at least have been receiving email notifications of PMs ( I don't do it for threads) up to 10-12 hrs after the actual PM was sent.

PJ has the correct explanation though I'm sure.

Kolias I recognize the thread myself the person was definitely a spammer you didn't really miss anything the posts were incomplete and for the most part didn't make any sense. When I saw this last night I reported it immediately. It almost looked like the person was half asleep but that was probably done on purpose. However I will give anyone the benefit of a doubt at least once.

I got another one this morning and I forgot to ask; is there anything I can do when I receive such a notification?

Just delete it. If they bother you you can choose to no longer be notified.
