Fun weekend?

Well it WAS fun right up until driving daughter's car back from Christmas family gathering Saturday. Just after exiting interstate about 3 miles from home on the 93 mile trip got check engine light and engine quit. Quick diagnosis - busted timing belt. Oh, joy. Tracked down the parts Saturday and got it fixed yesterday. Now paying the price with an aching back; getting too old to spend three hours hunched over the fender of a car. On the plus side, she has towing on insurance so I called and got a P.O. for the tow; covered about half the cost of the parts.

sounds like fun

While I usually enjoy working on vehicles, I've never enjoyed it when I had a deadline to get it going again. More than once when I was young I had to spend a late evening repairing my vehicle so I could go to work the next day

Just be glad it wasn't a "collision" engine. I had a 24 valve V6 Volvo break a timing belt. 14 bent valves. And the car was idling when it happened.
