Latest gas prices

Hasn't gotten down to our neck of the woods yet, but got gas yesterday about 90 miles up the road near my Mom's for $1.88.

The closest station near me is at $1.88 and they are generally 5 higher than the ones in town. I filled up my jeep last week for $1.86 and then 10 minutes later ran across one that was $1.82

Remember when the pump used to 'ding' after each gallon was pumped?
Who would have ever thought 40 yrs ago that we'd get excited about gas being just under $2 per gallon!

Here's a good one for you:

Rented a pickup truck Saturday to run up to my Mom's house (trip I bought the cheap gas during) to pick up a couple of dressers I'm going to refinish. While chatting with the gal at the rental place (nationally known) we got to talking gas prices when she was doing my rental paperwork. When she got to the part about what I wanted to do about gas, I chose "bring it back full" [Duh!]. She went on to mention that was a good choice because the price of gas if you choose the "bring it back empty and we'll fill it" option, the price charged is - I am not making this up - $9.89/gallon. That is not a typo and she said some people actually opt for that. She mentioned she had had a customer return a Tahoe not long ago that they opted for that and it was going to come to like $200 and they said that's fine. Nice to be made of money I guess.
